Our Lady of Good Voyage
Oil on canvas
24 x 24
I have recently been painting the wonderful old meetinghouses of Maine. This painting is in keeping with that series in size, medium and subject. The subject being buildings which have great meaning in their community. Buildings that hold the prayers, secrets, fears and hopes of countless people.

In the
spring of 2013 the Cape Ann Museum is exhibiting work by artists who
have participated in the Cape Ann Artisans Tour, very possibly the
oldest studio tour in the country. Our Lady will be there! and I am
thrilled.

Artists Statement
Nature is the primary inspiration for Kate’s paintings. She lives in the countryside of Maine and is inspired by the migrations of fish and birds, the ebbs and flows of the seasons. She has a fascination with the creatures who live all around us but are in the parallel worlds of water and air.
Biography
Kate Nordstrom studied at Montserrat School of Art and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Ma. Her work hangs in homes all across the US and as far away as Australia.
Kate began teaching and selling her work from her studio in the late 1970’s and ever since has sold her work from her studio or more recently from her gallery which sits on her Maine property out beyond her perennial gardens.
